The season of new watches is upon us, and the Summer issue WOW Singapore picks up where our online coverage at Luxuo.com left off. We lead off with our story on Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023, where most of the novelties had their debuts. Obviously, the entire Highlights segment has been given over to coverage of new watches, including the showstoppers from all the heavy-hitters, including Rolex and Patek Philippe. This will surprise exactly no one. What might raise some eyebrows are our choices, but this is not purely because of our own subjective sensibilities. Instead, it is really about where in the issue you encounter a new watch.

Take the very prominent example of the A. Lange & Söhne Odysseus Chronograph. As the sole major release by the brand this year (so far), you might think it would be a shoe-in for Highlights. Not so. Instead, we discuss it in our special report on Watches and Wonders Geneva, my Conversation with Ruckdee Chotjinda and our interview with Tino Bobe, the Production Director at A. Lange & Söhne. The watch will also figure prominently in our coming chronograph special, but you will have to wait for our Autumn issue for that…

The aforementioned Geneva watch report also covers what we think are the most important takeaways from the fair, including some asides about food, but mostly on the flavour of the novelties of course. We will get to more in-depth studies closer to when the actual pieces will appear in Singapore.
This is not to say that the Summer issue is only about cross-pollinated top-down views. If you know us at all, then you will expect a material focus, and this time it is composites. That means everything from carbon fibre to Magic Gold… Helpfully, the brands played along and debuted some fantastic examples for your intellectual pleasure, if not your wrists – yet.
This brings us to watches that are not from the Geneva fair, yet are also new. We have not neglected these, and they form significant chunks of virtually every section. We are especially pleased to celebrate the return of our photography spreads, which we have been remiss in including recently. Our in-house design team has grown in strength and they look forward to showing you what they can do, literally!
Our cover star this issue is the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph, which is part of a collection we have covered extensively over the years. It is no overstatement that the brand has managed to surprise with this latest iteration of an old favourite. It might even become a new favourite in these parts.
