Michael Costello Project Runway dresses, rompers & outfits are stunning but are they worth it?
Michael Costello clothing and dresses are one of the brands on Revolve that I have the most of in my closet. I’ve been buying this Project Runway designers clothing for years as I love his sexy, fashion forward dresses, swimwear and styles which always have unique touches to them. If you’re not familiar with the brand, Michael Costello is the Project Runway designer whose designs can be found on his website or Revolve. Most pieces tend to be on the dressier, sexier side and range from $200-300 but are they worth it? Here’s my honest Michael Costello Revolve review. What kind of clothes does Michael Costello Revolve make
Michael Costello X Revolve collection has over 500 pieces from casual dresses and tops to cocktail dresses, gowns and sparkly jumpsuits. They tend to be sexy, fashion forward and have lots of unique features.
One of the things I love most is the unique features and colors which make his designs stand out. His dresses are some of the ones I get complimented the most on.
How is the quality
I’ve never had an issue with quality, it’s always pretty consistent. Most of his dresses are fully lined and I feel like you get what you pay for most of the time.
How does Michael Costello sizing run
I wear an XS in most brands including Michael Costello and his styles normally fit me like a glove. Some brands don’t work with my bust but his do which is why I keep going back to this designer. The only tailoring I’ve had to do is on this green gown which is surprising as I’m 5’2″.

The dresses I own from this collection and my thoughts on each piece:
Blue 1 sleeve mini dress
This dress runs true to size and is the most beautiful shade of blue. You’re going to probably either want to wear nipple coverups or a strapless bra under it though as. regular or racer back bra don’t work with it and it’s a little see-through. The zipper does need a bit of tugging over the side seam too but the end result is super pretty.
Black long sleeve midi dress
This black, long sleeve dress below is probably the Michael Costello dress I get the most compliments on and have worn the most. The panel at the front is actually a nude mesh insert and the dress is backless making it sexy from both the back and the front. It’s fully lined but it is dry clean only.
Michael Costello Hot pink mini dresses
This hot pink dress is way sexier than I’d normally wear but I couldn’t resist the color. One feature Michael tends to include in a lot of his designs is really padded shoulders. So if that’s not your thing, definitely read the product description and reviews before ordering.
Personally, I’m here for it. Just don’t forget the double sided tape with this one and it is hand wash only.
Another hot pink Michael Costello dress but less sexy and satin.It’s perfect for weddings, cocktails and dinners. I’m wearing an XS and find it runs true to size.
Blue satin mini dress
You might want to use double sided tape with this one but it flows so beautifully and feels great on. I’m wearing an XS and find it runs true to size.
Michael Costello green satin gown
This was my first gown from Michael Costello X Revolve. What I loved about it was the backless style, color and the fact that it’s under $300. The downside was that it’s not lined and that it needed a lot of tailoring as I was way too short for it.
I had it shortened and added horsehair to hem, had shoulder straps taken in, and had the zipper removed and added a longer length one as it was too low cut for more torso. However, even after all the tailoring it still worked out less than a lot of other gowns.
Michael Costello Revolve black mini dress
I got this lightweight black mini dress for last summer and got so much wear out of it. It’s fully lined and hand wash only but it dries really nicely. The straps are also adjustable which I always appreciate as I have such a short torso.
Michael Costello maxi dress
This didn’t even need hemming which is a miracle since I’m only 5’2″. It does show quite a bit of side boob but I’m fine with that.
Michael Costello blue cut out dress
Another sexy Michael Costello X Revolve dress. You might want to wear double sided tape with this one too unless you want to rock the under boob look. I love that the fabric has a little sparkle which looks gorgeous in the sun.
Michael Costello Review | Rompers
I got this chiffon emerald green romper for the holidays as I love a looser style for Christmas day. Especially one with an elasticated waist! Pros: There’s 2 ways to tie it for 2 different looks.
The first as I have it in the video review secondly to criss cross the straps around the neck as in the photo. Cons: Like most of his clothes, it’s hand wash only.
I loved it so much I got it in pink too. I love Michael Costello rompers for their more fashion forward feminine looks and so I don’t have to worry about coordinating a top and bottoms.
I fell in love with the cut of this romper. It’s hard to find chic rompers but this one manages to do it and I find it’s the perfect fit (wearing an XS).

Michael Costello swim review
One of the sexiest swimwear collections around for both swimsuits and bikinis. I kind of wish I’d sized up in this black one piece so maybe size up if you’re inbetween sizes as it’s high cut at both the front and the back. On the plus side less tan marks especially on the booty.
