Fall fashion & runway styles to love & how to wear them! Trend Report
Fall fashion trends 2023 are feminine and range from minimalistic to full on glam. 2023 Fall trends still include the preppy styles and metallics from last year but hem lines have got longer. For Autumn think styles that flatter your body, neutrals, reds, yellows and silver, preppy looks, laid back tailoring, elevated basics, 80’s power dressing & plunging necklines inspired by the Fall Winter 2023 runway shows by Dior, Versace, Chanel, Balmain, Saint Laurent, Fendi, etc. Want to wear looser styles, wear looser, prefer structured styles, wear those too. Fall 2023 women’s fashion trends embody both and there’s really a style for everyone.

1. Preppy styles
Preppy everything is in for Fall 2023 fashion from footwear to clothing. Pleated skirts, plaid blazers, skinny ties and womens loafers were big last Fall and are still set to be a big trend for Fall fashion 2023.

Think Mary Janes, ballet flats, loafers, pleated skirts, white shirts, pinstripes, riding boots and blazers as seen at GCDS, Prada, Valentino, and Diesel Fall 20223 fashion shows.
However, my favorite preppy looks came from Dior. Who styled crisp white shirts with black skinny ties, the prettiest feminine black midi skirts and 2 tone Mary Janes.
2. Vibrant red
Say Hello to red for Fall 2023. While pink is still in, it’s shifting to more of an evening color. We’re not talking deep rich burgundy or wine here but in your face red. As seen at Fall Winter 2023 Prada, Stella McCartney, Elie Saab, Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent runway shows and in The Row’s Spring 2024 collection. Red is set to stick around for a couple of seasons.

Whether you go for a pop of color or monochromatic outfit which was the most prolific ways red was worn on the Fall runways the main take away is to embrace this bold hue.
3. Strapless corsets & bustier tops and dresses
Corsets and bustiers are still a big trend for Fall 2023 with the caveat that now they’re strapless. From silky tops as seen at Vivienne Westwood to snake print styles and Rokh this Fall is all about feminine styling.

Thanks to the upcoming 3rd season of the Netflix series Bridgerton, expect to see a lot more regency era fashion.
4. Womens Fall Fashion Trends 2023 | Plunging necklines
Plunging necklines took over the F/W 2023-2024 runway shows in more wearable ways than you might imagine. Dare to bare or go for a more modest look. Whether it’s a sparkly plunging dress worn over a sweater as seen at Stella McCartney or a cozy coat as seen at Chloé.
It’s also still in style to wear them on their own as seen at Chanel. Just don’t forget the double sided fashion tape and a coverup for breezier days.

5. Peplum | Feminine Fall 2023 Fashion Trends
It’s not the first season that peplum has been in style. It’s one of those styles I embraced the 1st time but am a little wary of this time. Peplum can either look incredibly chic and flattering or make you look way heavier than you are. So chose your style(s) wisely and make sure the waist is nipped in and proportions balanced.
Moschino had a stunning purple and black strapless peplum dress that was incredibly flattering. Other designers showed peplum pencil skirts styled with more casual tops or went full on glam with sparkly metallics as seen at Paco Rabanne.
6. Silver
As seen at Di Petsa with their strapless silver corset tops, Gucci with shimmering silver fringing and 16 Arlington in silver sequin matching skirt sets. It’s giving us total modern day glam vibes and I’m here for it.
If silver’s not your color, pretty much all metallics are in from green to navy, sequins to lamé. Once a look just for the evening and yes metallic sequin evening dresses are still on trend as seen at Dundas. Metallics are also in style for the day. Just pare them down with a simple white tee or jeans.
7. Yellow Fall 2023 Fashion Trends | Mellow to neon
Yellow of all shades from mellow to chartreuse are in fashion for Fall 2023 women’s fashion trends. It can be a hard color to pull off but with so many shades to choose from there’s a way to add this sunny color to your Fall outfit. As seen at Isabel Marant, Prada, Christopher Kane and Tod’s Fall Winter 2023 runway shows to name just a few!

8. Classic Fall style | Sweater dresses
Sweater dresses are one of my favorite Fall and Winter outfits. They’re a non brainer and so easy to throw on and layer with. For Fall 2023 look for details like large cable knit or fitted ribbed Sweater dresses. As seen at Tod’s, Isabel Marant, and Max Mara who showed a strapless sweater dress made more practical for the season with it’s matching long knit gloves.
The key to wearing sweater dresses this season is to keep the look monochromatic with a matching bag and accessories.
9. Fall fashion accessories | Belts
Belts are one of those accessories that can instantly give personality to and elevate an outfit. It doesn’t really matter the width this season. Everything from chunky to skinny belts are in. As seen at Max Mara, Chanel, Alaïa, Sportmax, Schiaparelli and Louis Vuitton.
10. Fall 2023 women’s fashion trends | Maxi skirts and dresses
Maxi skirts and dresses are back for Fall fashion 2023 from voluminous to fitted styles. Style them with everything from trending strapless bustier tops to simple white tees. Shoe wise, sneakers and loafers add a casual look for the day or add some pointed toe heels for the evening.

11. Luxe neutrals
The quiet luxury trend is still going strong and a big part of Fall fashion 2023. Think monochromatic neutrals like black, beige and grey. In luxe fabrics with laid back tailoring that looks effortless but polished.

12. Fall fashion basics | White Shirts
Fall 2023 women’s fashion trends wouldn’t be complete without a white shirt. All shapes and forms of white shirts found their way back on the Fall 2023 fashion show runways. Perfect to complete the luxe neutrals or preppy Fall fashion trends. From longer lengths, we’re talking floor grazing at Valentino to more wearable regular lengths at Dior and Prada.
Style your white shirts this season either with a black mini skirt and pointed toe ballet flats as seen at Prada. Under a pants suit as seen at The Row or as a dress as seen at Loewe and Valentino.

13. Monochomatic outfits
Monochromatic outfits always look put together and chic. So with luxe neutrals and quiet luxury being fashion buzz words for Fall monochromatic outfits help to create that effortless and polished look.
If beige doesn’t work for you, try cream, tan, brown, grey, navy, dark green or even red this season. As seen at Ferragamo, Tod’s and Chanel.

14. Trending Fall prints | Tartan
Tartan is a classic print but does tend to have seasons when it’s hot or not. Right now, it’s hot! This Fall, designers are paying homage to Dame Vivienne Westwood whose feminine, edgy style lives on in tartan, peplum and the strapless corsets we’re seeing so much for for Fall/Winter 2023-2024.

As seen at Vaquera, Stella McCartney, Anna Sui and Issey Miyake.
15. Scoop neck tops
A scoop neck top with wide leg pants or maxi skirt is an easy and comfortable way to embrace the luxe neutrals and laidback tailoring aesthetic for Autumn 2023. It’s a 2023 Fall fashion trend you can really make your own and dress up for down.
For styling inspiration look at the FW2023 Dundas, Ferragamo, and Saint Laurent runway shows.
16. Fall fashion styles | Off the shoulder tops & dresses
I love an off the shoulder AKA cold shoulder top or dress. I know it’s hard finding a style that you can lift your arms in or that doesn’t fall down but once you do I find they’re always on repeat.
So stock up on those strapless bras and get the highlighter out to make your shoulder bones pop. As seen at Vivienne Westwood and Zimmermann Fall Winter 2023 fashion shows.

17. Laidback tailoring
Both laidback tailoring and sharply tailored 80’s power dressing are in style for Fall 2023. For laidback tailoring this season think a blazer and pencil skirt with a looser fit shirt or wearing sneakers with more tailored outfits. We’re not talking massively oversized wardrobe basics but ones that aren’t skin tight either.
18. Layered sheers
Sheer clothing has been in style all year and isn’t going anywhere for Fall 2023. We’re styling them pretty much the same way as we were in 2022, layered over warmer items and trousers/pants versus just a bra and boy shorts. As seen on and off the runway at Chanel, Missoni and Anteprim.

Although Stéphane Rolland Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023/2024 showed sheer black maxi skirts over black bodysuits with cropped black satin cape jackets. At Chanel it was more a case of a sheer layer like a wisp of black tulle over a floral maxi dress or a sheer panel on a solid black top with black pants.
The trend looks set to continue into 2024 with Chanel continuing to include sheer pieces in their Resort 2024 collection.
19. Power dressing
This is one fashion trend that I never get tired of. The 90’s fashion trend is being replaced by 80’s power dressing. Think structured shoulders, sleek tailoring, hourglass silhouettes, luxe velvet and large buttons as seen at Moschino, Balmain and Emporio Armani.
To nail this Fall trend look for black and white dresses or matching black and white skirt suits styled with stiletto pumps, tights/stockings optional. Along with chunky belts and skinny belts to create that perfect hourglass silhouette.
20. Elevated trench coats
Trench coats are very much a wardrobe staple but for Fall 2023 think more along the lines of statement pieces than just neutrals. Use this as an opportunity to add trending colors for Fall 2023 like yellow or red to your outfits or even something sparkly for the evening.
